Hi Snitz Forum

I have a problem our ISP closes the ASP support on our website - we need the forum content in an upcoming trial so we need content in a usable form.

How do I download the contents so it is possible to see the individual posts?

- The site is closed so we do not need it for any thing but the trial.

Best regards
Alex Holmstedt

Asp still works on the forum, support for it has not been stopped. Instead, the site administrator has taken it off-line. Since you didn't understand what happened, I assume you're not the forum admin and thus, you cannot download the message contents.

The forum was closed by the administrator and if you are not an administrator you can not open the forum

ASP support is NOT closed. If you're the administrator, you should know what type database you have and the database name.

If you are the admin, open the forum, look up the Forum Variables Information in Admin Options and the 6th variable from the top is strDbType. That will tell you the type of database your forum used.

The strDBType says: mysql

What do I do now, to download the contents so it is possible to see the individual posts?

Simply sign-in and you should be able to see the posts and copy them.

How many posts do you need? If there are a just a few, you could do as Carefree suggested and use the printer friendly version of each topic, then print to pdf or paper.
If there are many, well maybe it's best to know how you want to present them, if that is what you are doing.

Okay - there is no way where you can make a simple collected download of all forum posts so that they are directly readable.

So I will have to do it the hard way and make sure that I print all posts as pdf - and do it before the ASP support is turned off in September...

You need ALL forum posts? It would be easy enough to write a program to extract them, but you would need to specify what information you required (e.g., dates, user names, titles, message) and how many lines per page to limit the output.

That is to complicated for me - is there a way to see how many posts there have been posted on the forum? so I do not miss something out...
