Is there a way of changing the reload option of active.asp to one of the other options rather than the "Don't reload automatically" default. . .and making the change the new default?

Yes. In "active.asp" change the value of 0 to the item you want in this line (appx 61):
nRefreshTime = 0

My site can have upwards of 300 people on at anyone time and when moderating/viewing I have the refresh set to 2minutes and that's ample.
1minute would be useless even on the busiest times |
