I know this topic has been broached before, and I doubt that there are any new solutions barring the 5-1 or 6-1 mod packs.
I have a long-standing Snitz Forum - HEAVILY modded - MS-SQL database. I am using a 3.4.05 version ... converted manually by adding upgrade changes from previous versions. I would love to use the newer code and get rid of some of the ancient mods I have installed that are no longer needed or have possible security holes; topic notelets, anonymous posting, a few others.
So, my question, does anyone out there have a .07 Snitz version with mods already installed. MODS I need are Active Users, PM, Avatars, Polls, Event Calendar, Merge/Split Topics, Attachment, among others. If there is a version that has some of these mods installed ... tucked away somewhere, it would make life easier. Would still have work to do, but some of the more complex mods would be done.
Otherwise, I'll have to roll up my sleeves and start anew ... or just leave it as is.
Anyone have anything like this? Or any suggestions I may not have thought of?
Thanks! |

I have some packaged close to that list. I'll ask one of the nurses to bring my Snitz HD to the hospital. |

I won't be getting well, so I contribute as best I can. It's not a hardship, just have to look through the drive to find the packages I put together and send you one. |

Forgot that, sorry.
Two choices:
1) Put an apostrophe in front of that line so that it's not executed.
or
2) At the beginning of that group, there's a select statement (appx line 45). Un-comment it (delete the apostrophe) and the line (appx line 68) which says "End Select". |

OK -
I knew this was not going to smooth !!
First, when trying to go to any topic, one sees this:
ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cc1'
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
/messageboard/topic.asp, line 167
I have posted a test. It shows in the active topics list, but I cannot read the post.
Secondly, I cannot Check Installation from the Admin Panel. No matter what password I choose, it won't let me in!
Couldn't open the database. Make sure you supplied a correct username and password.
Code : 80004005
Error Description : [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
So, the Snitz icon still reflects version 3.4.05

Well, considering the problems I am for some reason encountering, and because my forum is so heavily modded, I think I shall forgo this endeavor and leave well enough alone. Carefree, I can't thank you enough - and I still suggest that you upload your package to SnitzBitz. Makes a great forum for a new user! Be well & carry on! |

Data source not found, no default driver specified ... that means you never edited the two lines in "config.asp" to tell it where to go. You have to specify to use Access and where you placed the database (assuming you moved it and/or renamed it from the default). |

rich, if you would like, I could help setup your new forum for you. Kind of on some holiday here and been looking to keep my mind busy with some coding, instead of playing farmville everyday.
So if you're up for it, can email me access to your server and we can work from there. |

Hey, Carefree ... I did change my config.asp ... I will have to check that, perhaps I did something incorrectly Meanwhile, I reverted back to my backed-up files.
@Davio --- Thank you for the offer! The package that Carefree had put together was excellent, but I have quite a few other Mods to put in if I do this from scratch ... dating back to the days of Crash! I'm retired now, so I have the time --- just need the ambition to deal with all the changes. Actually, I need to REMOVE some Mods - that is my main goal [updating to 3.4.07 secondary]. I need to get rid of some stuff I added in that were quite complex, but not needed any longer - among them, Topic Notelets, Anonymous Posting [DoraMoon version],and User Groups. So, unless you are REALLY bored with Farmville ... Let me try one more time and see if I was just being careless. Thanks again!! |

lol I have the time rich. And since you're a long time member here, figured it would be a worthwhile investment of my time.
I was going to upload a fresh copy of the 3.4.07 files in a 2nd folder, upgrade your database, then add the latest version of the mods 1 by 1 to your new forum, until all the mods are added.
Nothing like a clean spanking modded forum to make you feel all good and happy inside. lol |
