After doing the "Sticky Topic Mod" I made a post 'sticky' so I could check this out. My forum looks like this below with the black areas now.
I had placed this mod near the end of my 'to do list' in thinking it wouldn't cause any problems! 
I am posting a copy of my forum.asp in txt format if someone has time to look at it; please.

| Every place it says colspan=""7"", change the value of 7 to 9. |
