I read at your site you had to do the extended profile mod over and over again with each beta, so I just <i>had</i> to get it in this release <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>.

BTW, that reminds me to mention something very important: the database-tables are not 100% compatible with the tables Slemieux used in the mod, some of them have changed names ! (take a look at setup.asp for the exact names and datatypes of the new fields)

Stupid question: My MySQL database is located on a box way across the country, and I access it using it's IP address when using PHP. How do I use a MySQL database that way, or can I?

Gor,
I was going to download this and then I thought to myself, can I convert my currently running SR2 version of the forums to this forum easily or would I need to manually move over all of the users? Would I lose all my existing messages? Is there an upgrade path so to speak? I figure I'll grab this at least to look at the Mark All Read option in active.asp.

Yes there is an upgrade feature (it runs the first time you access your forums after you install the new files) that will allow you to use your current database with this new version.

Sue -

You can use that MySql server , off the top of my head (my testserver is at home) you just use server=000.000.000.000 insteat of an DSN. If you didn't change the port MySql is listening to you don't have to add it, if you did, also add the port.

I'll look it up tonight when I get home and post the exact strConnString in the MySql forum.

Ken -

Upgrading the database from V3 RC1 to the latest version has been automated since Beta 2.
That means all you have to do is run <b>setup.asp</b> after you installed the new version and it adds the new fields to the database.
<b>But</b> if you added new fields yourself you might need some extra work afterwards depending on how your database looks. I made sure the upgrade adds each field one by one, so if you i.e. allready had an M_AGE field in the table MEMBERS it just says that it allready existed an continues to add the other fields.
