Hello,
We've just installed Snitz Forums for a client and are having problems.
Version is the latest (just downloaded from site a few weeks ago), database version is MS Access.
I updated some values in Admin options, yet when I go back in I find it didn't keep the changes - old values came back. Not sure what to check as I didn't get errors, it seems just not to be keeping the changes.
Help would be appreciated! Can't use the forum at all if I can't get the changes to admin options to take ...

I can't check the DB right now, but I can say that the change will take place and then revert back. I believe the rights are correct for the internet user to the database...read, write, execute. I've reinstalled several times, also tried using the 97' Access database. For instance, I change the main logo, submit, it takes effect, but only on the admin options page, home page logo doesn't change. Then it starts working on all the pages, then I log on from another computer and the old logo is back. Same with all the other settings like email, email server etc. This was after I had problems with the admin user contsantly being logged out from several different machines, all with accept 3rd party cookies enabled etc. I finally got that to work by commenting out these lines from config.asp.
'if strSecureAdmin = "0" then Session(strCookieURL & "Approval") = "15916941253" 'end if
I successfully installed Snitz on an identical server in 10 minutes with no problems. I checked for all and any differences between these 2 servers and can't find anything different. Both are Windows Server 2003, IIS7.
Can't figure out what's wrong with this server.
Thanks for the reply. |

if you had to comment out the str secureadmin it sounds like you are having issues with the application variables not persisting on the server, so I would guess there is an IIS config issue somewhere |

Hi
Iam having the same problems on our host. 2003 Server. This is a shared server. Iam going to try setting up on a dedicated server I have access to. I will post the results here.

ok, I haven't reinstalled IIS yet, but when I make a change it is the value is written to the database, but doesn't show up on my webpage. I logged off and opened another instance of IE, logged back in and still had the old value. So for some reason it's not looking to database or not refreshing etc. |

I think I have it solved without having to reinstall IIS. I created a new application pool and directed the site to use that. So far it's fixed both problems of not updating the session variables as well as not logging the admin off every time I click on something. I'll keep testing but if you don't hear back from me that means it's fixed. |
