I'm sorry if this isn't the correct section in advance. I upgraded from 3.4.06->07 by doing the following:
1) Backing my database up to a file. 2) Overwriting the old files with new. 3) Updating config.asp 4) Adding back a mod to show a news ticker on the main forum pages. 5) Running setup.asp
At this point, I got several errors when updating the databases, although the installer reported that it completed with no errors. Perhaps they're warnings, but I captured a shot of some of them.

Then I updated the forum counts.
It all appears to be working, but part of the reason I wanted to upgrade to 3.4.07 was because we have been having some funny issues which I think are more to do with my tinkering than anything else. Now, with this, I suspect they may be issues with the database.
Some problems we were having before: - Inability of original poster to modify topic/first post - Certain threads report error on posting a reply but do successfully post the reply - Mailer issues This is rambling and I guess it's several questions in one which probably means I'm overtired, my apologies and thanks in advance. |

ok.
1)what database are you using? 2) do you have mods installed ?(inability to edit post may be a MOD) 3) what errors do you get when posting replies? 4) what mailer issues ? |

Alright, since posting that long email I've been looking more and more into these problems. The mailer issue/posting replies issue are the same - the error only comes up when someone has subscribed to a topic. And the mailer issue is unrelated to Snitz, the hosting company has disabled form emailing 'to combat spam'. I can mail out of ASP but it has to be to an address on my site's domain, which basically means I can't mail out to users. There is apparently a PERL workaround but I know no PERL so I need to spend some significant time not only with that but then writing a mod for the forum. As it stands users can't even register at the moment, something I was completely unaware of.
Anyway, back on topic:
1) MS SQL 9 (2005) 2) No mods 3+4) See above.
Oh, and it appears that the issue with users being unable to edit their first posts has been fixed in the upgrade, it was probably my tweaking with cookies before. |
