This might be the result of a MOD, so this might not be the correct forum, but I'm not sure.

Using 3.4.05 - heavily modded. Sometime in the past 3 months, or so, I noticed that when I am logged in to my site - and then make a post - Active Topics resets the active topics to just that single post I just made. They may have been a dozen, or more, before my post, but after the post there is just my most recent one.

I wasn't too concerned, but today I heard from a user experiencing the same phenomenon and would like it to be fixed.

I will post a text file, once I know the proper file to post!! I might as well post ative.asp, so here it is: Active.txt

I have my Active Topics to reflect all new posts since my last visit. But, it seems that it thinks I log out when I post and then uses that time stamp as my last visit, even though it is still the SAME visit.

Any help?

EDIT ---> It seems to happen also when I log in to the Administrative area.

Using IE8 on Windows 7 RC1 --- that's the only browser I regularly use ...

Will try on Firefox & Chrome. Come to think of it, I guess it was roughly 3 months ago that I installed Windows 7. Hmmmmmm ....

Which IIS type are you using?

If you are using 6 or above, it looks like application pool is restarting itself or recycling. It often happens with bad components (at least in my experiences or using 32bits on 64bits time-to-time)

And if only on IE8, then you are either prefering InPrivate browsing or set your security settings too high... (or not allowing Sessions)

If it's a browser think, you will need to delimit it. What browser, what versions? Happens consistently, randomly, what? You need to be able to characterize the occurrence of the situation, so that you can try and find a solution.

Just stating the obvious, but did you select the "show last week" or other options from the Active Topics page?
Most default to your last visit if you leave and come back.

I just checked with the latest Chrome browser and after poking around for 14 minutes, it kicked me back to 1 minute after I replied to a post, just like IE8. Firefox 3.5 seems ok. Seems to happen all the time on those 2 browsers, certainly on IE8.

Active topics is set to show all posts since last visit.
My security settings are at the default; I am not using InPrivate browsing; Not sure about IIS, but it's probably up-to-date, my server folks are pretty good about that.

So, I don't know ...

well, if it doesn't do it when using firefox then it sorta looks like a browser problem rather than IIS or Snitz
