Has anyone had any proof positive experience with posting an email address in a post with spam as a direct result?

Reason i ask is that user's keep doing that even though they've been warned many times.
As a friend once commented: "Buy them books, buy them more books, and all they do is eat the covers."

in explanation, the placing of fake email addresses on web pages is a specific tecnique for catching spammers, so yes it does happen.

That's their own look out, then. If they want to post their e-mail addresses, even after being informed of what could happen if they do so, then they've nobody to blame but themselves when the spam starts flowing in.
