Did he explain what the problem was, or did they just say "we fixed it, and it was working again". I ask this, because I've seen a couple of posts lately that have simular problems, and it might help them also to know this.
For all others reading this: if you suddenly have connection problems, try the script wii posted a link to here and see if you can connect with that while using the same strConnString as you used for the forum. If that doesn't work it still can be that (if you use Access) the database has got corrupted. Try uploading a database (can be an empty one even without tables in it, or just a Snitz database fresh from the zipfile) and point the strConnstring to that one. If the script still fail, there is nothing you can do about it, except talk to your ISP and show them the script, tell them what you did etc. Using the script makes it easier to pinpoint the problem without having you ISP say "well then it must be the forum".

I use that script over at cfm-resources.com as a constant reminder to them that their servers still aren't working (it's been 2 months and they still can't get it working )

Well, ok then, hope it stays that way, I am going to close this topic so we won't get "I have the same problem" replies here.....
