I would like to allow members to add a skype link within the footer signature but after a few failed tries tonight I gave up.

Skype generates the required html and if I allow html in the forum I can allow them to paste in the code but it does not seem to pull up the right status from the skype code.

I may be doing this wrong or one of you may know a better way of having a live status flag to a limited number of members...

Any help most welcome.

There is a skype add-on mod over at snitzbitz if that is any help

for very obvious security reasons users are not permitted to post javascript anywhere in a forum, so best advise is checkout the addon thermal_seeker mentions<

Thanks for the replies, however it's the ability to be able to show a live status of online or not that I was looking for to allow live chat without the additional resources on my server.

It would mean to db mods but if java is not allowed it looks like I am stuck...<

you will have to write your own mod in order to do it, you could maybe repurpose one of the other messenger icons into a skype one, as long as you don't allow users to post javascript you won't have a problem<

I don't use Skype but is the javascript not just used to detect whether or not Skype is installed on the client machine? If you just want to display their online status then, surely, all you need is the image.
