I installed IPGate 2.44 on a 3.4.06 forum that is hosted on a Windows 2003 Server. The database is Access 2000. This was a "clean" install since IPGate was not used previously.
I followed the install procedure and everything appears to be fine, including getting the "IPGate Configuration" link to appear on the Admin section of the forum. Whenever I click on the admin_ipgate.asp link to setup IPGate, I receive the following error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
The forum is working properly otherwise. People can register, post and reply. I downloaded the database from the server and opened it with Access. It appears that the IPGte install script to update the fields for IPGate settings ran just fine with the new tables added to the database, so the structure seems ok.
Any ideas on what is wrong? I'd like to ban some IPs with spammers registering through a server in Amsterdam.
You need to turn off "Friendly Error Messages" to get a more useful error message. Without that there isn't much anyone can do to help. Odds are, once you turn off "Friendly Error Messages" the problem will be much more apparent.
Ok - it's fixed. I did some research on error code 80004005 that was behind the friendly error message and found that I needed to use the Plesk control panel on the web server to change the write privileges for the Forum administrator IUSR account for the database directory. All is well now. Thanks for the hints.<
