My forums have been up for a couple of days now but when I checked them this morning, I get this error:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
/forum/inc_top.asp, line 42
I try running setup.asp but it tells me this:
The database could not be opened !! Check your config.asp file and set the strConnString so it points to the database. Also check if strDBType is set to the right databasetype.
Code : -2147467259
I haven't changed anything to the database or to the fpdb folder (in fact, I haven't changed anything!)
What could the problem be???
Cheers, Mark

the database could have gotten corrupted somehow.
I guess if you were in the middle of an update to a table in the database and the server hiccups, or crashes, or a service hangs, could be any number of reasons.
I would suggest downloading your database and try to open it in Microsoft Access. |

Microsoft Access has a repair feature that might help you out.

I got this too the other week. What I think happened was my host upgraded their software and they dropped the Access97 support somehow because if I upgraded the database to Access 2000 and used the jet driver, it worked fine.....

Well, looks like my whole site is down now (connection refused) so perhaps they are having trouble at their end.
Just curious, Schade are you hosted at Burlee by any chance?

Apparently, Burlee were "conducting tests and routine maintenance in order to ensure the stability and security of our network"
Hopefully, this explains the recent problems.
I checked the database Richard, it seems AOK.
I'll keep you posted if anything else goes wrong!
Cheers, Mark
