Hello all! My first post!
3 days ago I began using Snitz. I havn't programmed in a long time. Matter of fact, last time I programmed was in basica and qbasic in DOS . I am a moderator on a snowmobile forum and I am familiar with forums of course. I got an idea for a new one this weekend and ran with it.
Anyways, I got my forum up and running. Got the avatar mods in place (user can put in a link for their avatar). Got the sub forum mod going too. I have learned alot in 3 days haha.
Tonights goal was the active user MOD installed. I had a few errors and searched my butt off and figured them out. Now I have no errors but its like the MOD is not turned on. The control panel is in my Active Users Configuration. I set it up, go to the forum, see its not working, go back into my admin panel and the changes are gone.
Any advice?
I look forward to working on things in the future and getting involved in this community.

Thanks in advance!
PS- the active user MOD file was called active users 40 20 and I am running the newest version of Snitz and access based.< |

make sure you have made all the changes in config.asp properly and try rerunning the database update< |

It doesn't look like it is setup.asp problem. When you go to active_users.asp it redirects you to default.asp.< |

yes but you need to reset the forums so to speak..and thats what needs doing.
1st thign to do when you have problems after a mod has been instaleld is to run setup.asp usually does somthing.
also its the easiest thign to try before lookign throght everything.
i woud lsay the reason for it redirecting back to default.asp is due to the settings not being saved.

Hi, this is my first post too. I've been trying to implement this mod onto v3.4.06, with similar results. As arcticcatmatt says, "Now I have no errors but its like the MOD is not turned on. The control panel is in my Active Users Configuration. I set it up, go to the forum, see its not working, go back into my admin panel and the changes are gone." I've got the same problem. I've tried rerunning setup.asp as suggested, but that doesn't fix anything. Also when you go to active_users.asp it redirects you back to default.asp.
I've had a look inside the database with AQT (Advanced Query Tool) and I can see that the settings have been written to the database, but it is almost as if config.asp does not read them properly.
I'm sorry, I'm not a programmer at all, but am technically proficient. I am used to altering text based script files, with cut and paste, as I used to do that sort of thing to maintain a transactional based system, so I think I have got all the right bits in the right scripts in the right places - no obvious errors.
Does any one have any other clues where to look?
Thanks in advance for your help. < |

Did you add all the required changes to config.asp? If you check the Forum Variables Information, in Admin Options, do the values you saved for the mod configuration show (should show near the bottom of the page - you will need to guess a bit from the variable names)?< |

All of the active user variables use an AU in the front (either strAU... or AU...). There should be about 15 of them, if I remember correctly.
99% chance that something wasn't done in config.asp.< |

And dead right you were...
I remember making the changes to config.asp, but must have somehow not saved them...... A quick check with Beyond Compare against the origiinal config.asp confirmed that. Once all the changes were made to config.asp, everything now works as designed.
It's always the simple things that bite!!
Thanks for your help and time guys, much appreciated.< |
