i understand that but when i open step 11 here is what is in that file..
Mac OS X2°âATTR;šÉÿâ˜*˜*com.apple.quarantine0000;47afb737;Firefox;|org.mozilla.firefoxThis resource fork intentionally left blank ÿÿ
the same is in the other file in step 11.

You're getting this when you edit the files? You should only be using a basic, simple text editor to edit the files.

Will people please stop with the "don't use Dreamweaver" BS?

A reasonable response would be "don't use Dreamweaver in 'Design View'", or "You need to use the 'Code View' to edit files". Dreamweaver did not corrupt the files. There is nothing wrong with Dreamweaver - it is a tool. One of many acceptable options, and used by thousands of developers every day with no problems.

As to the problem, I've noticed that due to some server issues with the guy who hosts the Eastover Fire Department site a file does occasionally get corrupted. He doesn't normally do Windows-based hosting, so he's not been able to track down the issue. In the past, uploading a clean copy from a backup (you do have a backup, right?) has solved the problem.

But, after looking at that thread, you seem to have a solution that works for you - so nothing else needs to be said here.
