Hello everyone,
I know the forums are set up to do allowed-member-lists. The way mine are set up I have a legitimate reason to do it in reverse. That is disallow certain members from using the forum while still allowing them to use other features of the site that use MLEV. By default all members would have access. I'd hate to have to go through and allow every member and deselect these bad eggs... I'd have to stay on top of it when new members register, constantly adding them.
We tailor a lot of non-forum content to the users and we would still like them to access this user specific information but lock them out of the forum (specifically for causing problems)... They could still access the other data. As it is now we simply lock them out of it all.
Is there a mod out there for this? I realize most forums would have little use for this, so I expect to have to write it myself... just thought I'd check first. |

The UserGroups MOD is a viable option. Just make sure that you apply all the updates in the topic that has the download. |

Thanks for the replies. What I ended up doing was modifying the forum member's table, adding a field to 'disallow' posting, with an option in the profile for admins to change. Then I'm Checking that when they go to post.
I figured it's easier than doing it by forum... that's not really an issue. If we're going to stop them posting its for the whole forum anyway.
Again I appreciate the suggestions.

I second AnonJr's suggestion. You can do exactly what you're referring to. I have done something similar at my forum. When I set up the UserGroups MOD, I created a "probation" group, and denied access to all forums to that group. Then, if/when a user acts up, just add them to the group. |
