I doubt that there's an army of hackers - it's probably more likely a small group of friends/associates.
Is there a way to collect data from the various sites that have been hacked, identify the source of attacks, and provide a suitable response?

There was a topic started which posted info of the attackers and asked others to share in their info. I don't know what went on with that topic. I think it was posted in the help forums. It would be nice to see what kind of info gets piled up and maybe we can hit them back

How do we ensure the report is accurate and what is a suitable response?

I know that there are those that would prefer some kind of counter-attack.
But a more business-like response might be to assemble data and present it to the hosting company with a pointed inquiry.

I'm more concerned about the accuracy of the reports. How do we know we can trust the report? I have no objection to informing the hosting company but they may dismiss it if we can't ensure accuracy.

As long as the forum code is patched, why does it matter? Sorry, I fail to see any reason for so many worries and blocking and such.

If they've got any smarts at all, they're proxied, hardly worth chasing...

Phy1729: Re: "accuracy" - Spoken like a true coder.
Suggestion: assign a degree of accuracy percentage to the findings.

pdrg: The world if full of idiots doing stupid things.
If they had any smarts at all, they'd be doing something else.

ruirib: No argument there. You're right.

All satisfactory replies. Thanks. It is considered it not worth the pursuit.
