Our company is looking for someone who can implement MODs for our Snitz forum in order to add a document download control functionality. More specifically, we need to add the following features to our forum website:
- require user authentication prior to downloads - restrict authorization levels for some downloads, and have users approve a EULA - store user, document, EULA, and download data in the database - provide an administrator control interface to add documents and EULAs, control access rights, modify document and user properties - provide an analytics tool for administrators to generate activity reports filtered by certain parameters If you have related experience, please contact me directly to schedule a conference call/interview.

sounds like you need something other than a forum really, a forum is a place for open discussions it does not have any functionality to be a document management system which is what you are looking for. |

We have actually been using a Snitz forum for technical discussions for several years now. Some topics have technical documents available for download, and it is those downloads that we would like to monitor more closely. Some downloads should also be bound by a EULA. The forum is already using a MySQL database, so I do believe it is a matter of adding MODs. If you have more specific suggestions or ideas on what can or cannot be done with a Snitz forum for our requirements, please let me know. Thanks. |

I am just wondering if the file library could be used to do this? I am sure part of that functionality is there already. Might be worth taking a look into that mod and what it would take to turn it into what you want. |

Eventually, it might be able to.
As much as I advocate the "roll your own" approach to a lot of problems, sometimes its better to find a starting point that's a little closer to where you want to end up. At some point you may want to consider that due to the complexity of what you want, you may want to look at integrating a different product into the forum instead of trying to grow that functionality out of the forum. |

Thanks. We will consider third-party solutions, but we thought that it would be better to have a solution using our current authenticated users database (our forums users). So they can download documents as they are logged in to the forums discussing topics and posting questions... Anyone interested in quoting us for the task? Let me know! |
