I didn't really expect things to work on the first attempt, and they didn't, but I don't know what to do next.

1) Following the instructions, I ftp'd my Snitz files where they go on my new site, as well as the renamed database into the cgi_bin folder. I used whereami.asp to find my path to the database and made the appropriate change to the config file.

2) When I first attempted to browse to the database, I got the site's existing screen. renaming those index.html files so they would not be recognized, I got to a log-in screen the next time, where I tried to create my username and password. "Continue" brought me to something about updating the database. When I tried, I got 13 error statements.

3) I went back to the config and edited it with the alternate path that whereami suggests if the first "doesn't work." It did not. So I reinstituted the first path and expected to get the sign-in screen again. Instead, I got a portion of the Forums 2000 page and an "error line 91."

4) So it seems like I'm close, but missing every bit as good as a mile. Can anyone assistance?

Thanks.

You should get back to step 2 and ask your host to set read / write permissions for the anonymous internet user for your databse file and folder. Once he does that, you will be able to complete the forum setup.

I suppose I might have eventually found this in the Install Guide (where the error is identified), but you have sped me along wonderfully. (Would that there were a Snitz "owners manual.") Thanks, ruirib!

There is no owner's manual, I'm afraid. We are here to help with any questions, though. There is also the forum FAQ and the FAQ page, that you can use as a head start.
