I have turned on HTML code and have attempted to post a table but it leaves lots of white space and the table is way down at the bottom. How can I get around this?

Don't turn HTML on, it's a security risk in a public forum. If you just want to display information in a columnar layout, use the code tag and tabs.

It may help to know the end result you are looking for (beyond "a table in a post") as there may be a different/better way of doing it. Esp. because its quite easy to jack the layout with a malformed table....

I want to be able to copy either a Word or Excel table into a post. It will have about 7 columns and 12 rows, but these need to be correctly tabbed. This will happen frequently so it needs to be easy to do.

Might just be easier to upload the document and link to it in a post. That may depend on extenuating circumstances though... is this an internal website or an external site?

BTW, its also worth noting that doing a copy/past from any MSO application will add a bunch of "special" tags/information that only Office understands - and thus will cause problems in your page.

I'll second AnonJr's suggestion too.

This is an external site and it will be just normal members making these posts.

Then you may want to look at installing either Mike's File Attachment MOD or Proeder's File Attachment MOD (based on Mike's, but offers a few more options) - or you could look at coding your own. That way they could attach the document instead.

I can't find any reference to tabs in forum code. What is this and where can I get some details please?

Hit "reply with quote" to see how I did that.

Hi Shaggy,
How did you maintain the column format?
Ron
