I would like to use the software for multiple forums for a variety of web sites but would prefer to set it up as a virtual folder somewhere so all sites could use the same base software. Any tips on how to accomplish this?

I think that is possible. Each site needs its own configuration so mainting a single copy of the code is not possible.

Could your files (except config.asp) each just contain a server-side include to the common codebase and nothing else?!
