Is there anyway of a moderator of a forum can receive an email when a new topic is posted. I don't want emails going to everyone else, just the moderator.
I also don't want emails sent when replies to topics are added.
Any ideas if this can be done easily?
Thanks

Search around a little. I know this was discussed with regards to the Admin getting an e-mail, so if you can find that code it shouldn't be too hard to modify it further for the moderator to get an e-mail.

BTW, you may just find it easier in the end to install one of the RSS MODs. The one I usually end up installing (I forget which one it is off the top of my head) allows you to get an RSS feed for just a given topic - this would give your moderators a way to check on the topic without the overhead required by the e-mail components.

Please excuse my ignorance - how would the RSS MOD work? What would the moderator receive?
We're trying to cut down the amount of emails sent/received, but I have very limited knowledge as to how the RSS would alert a moderator?

An rss feed can be read in any rss reader, in Outlook, for example, just as a normal email message, so the moderator does not need to visit the forum to know a post has been made.

Thanks - that sounds ideal. Is it "easy" to set up?

I'm not so sure, but I think likely they are very easy, because it should mean mostly adding new files to the forum, but I can't be totally sure.

Visit snitzbitz.com and have a look at the readme file that should come with the mod.

The one I added only needed one change to inc_header.asp and a new file added to the forum. I'll have to dig around and see where I got the one I'm using. By and large all the RSS MODs are easy to set up and use.

Oh, its also worth noting that IE7, Fire Fox, and Opera all have RSS readers built into them.
