I've noticed that at least one of the members on my list shows a post date later than the last visit date. Please see the screenshot at - http://www.bluemoonfabrications.com/images/screenshots/lastpostvisit.gif

I've seen this before, on a different install, but didn't think too much of it. But as a follow up to a conversation with another member today, I noticed that the member list says that his last visit was 10/15, while I know he was signed in today?

Thanks, Ken

He may post without login. That will update the last post date, but not the last visit date.

Thanks for your reply. I don't understand how he can post without being logged in.(?)

The cookie for login is held for a default of 30 days and renewed every time you login.

Have you tried to logout and then visit a forum open to everyone? If you do, if you open a topic, you will see that the links to post are all available, so you can post and you will have the option to insert your username and password just to post.

So, the visit date on the member roster is the last time they physically logged in, not the last time they were actually on the forum, kept logged in by the cookie? If so, why, if I'm the last person to visit, and I sort the list be last visit, I show up at the top even if I haven't logged in or out in several days?

Thanks guys, I'll give my "testing name" a few hours rest and try it.

Not quite, the last visit date holds the date they last visited the forum while logged in.
