I had a chance to look at some other boards like vBulletin that claim this incredible speed. I'll admit that on their servers it is quick. I've seen some claims that Snitz is somewhat slow because it's based on older code and hasn't been optimized. I don't know for sure as I'm still new to ASP and the underlying equipment can always make things appear faster although not necessarily due to any software optimization!

Right now I'm happy with the speed running it with MS Access. However, posts on my site will grow rapidly over the next few weeks. I'm wondering how much quicker it will be to run mySQL and whether it would be comparable in speed to a vB. A couple of other interesting items were the mention of potential use of "compression" so that bandwidth use is minimized at your host although I'm not sure how they may be accomplishing this. I'm sure there are a number of people who use both vB and Snitz on their Unix/NT based sites, some that use mySQL -- what do you think? Can I port my Access files easily to mySQL?

Thanks for your opinions in advance.

Mike

In most cases, SQL Server will increase the speed of the forum. But, the server itself plays a big role in the speed of the forum also.
