As you know, I'm using a Windows XP Home Edition SP2... and I wanted to know if there is a way so that to acess the pc a specific memoy stick has to be inserted... I tryed using the "syskey" but it needs a disk in the (A:\) while my memory stick is in the (F:\) ... can anyone help please?

Try this from ThinkGeek. It's not software, so may not be what you're looking for, but it does exactly what you want.

yeah... i was thinking of something like the software of thinkgeek, but to apply to a normal memory stick, while I think the idea of the 2 meters thing is awesome... just the link to buy is broken so I don't have any idea of how much it costs :(

Hmmm we used to have pretty much that setup but using smart cards instead of USB sticks, so it can't be that bad to tweak to work, I'm sure

We used to use the smartcards to login, then as they were also our door cards and lunch money, always take them with us when we left our machines, when the PC would automagically lock on the removal of the card - and we didn't have to install anything (other than a straight card reader) for it to work - there must be some clue in there somewhere

has that been done before? i know the hardware has existed for a long time and even incorporated into USB keys but... that could be a money spinner if it hasn't
