Hmmm. That does seem to be it.
What about figuring out how many items trigger the scrollbar, and have the code that generates said table set it to something like 98% if there is that number or more items? (Did that make sense? I just got out of a meeting... been listening to too much double-talk) |

Grr & Argh! It's doing it again (on another site). And hours of Googling has failed to yield any satisfactory solutions Surely I can't be the only one to have encountered this issue?
Your solution wouldn't work in this instance, Anon; the elements have variable heights and, besides, 98% isn't going to reach "edge-to-edge" in other browsers.
As an aside, while we're on the subject of IE acting the arse, have a gawk at this page in a proper browser and then in IE - notice the colour difference in the *.png files?

Well it was just a thought. I think most people either call it "good enough" or find some other way of getting the same result... not sure what that would be off the top of my head though.
As to your aside, I didn't notice a difference between IE7 and Fx2, but I didn't get a chance to try it in IE6 or Opera. |

Well, I gave up on trying to get this fixed, again, and hammered in a bit of extra padding that there was barely enough room for and hid the x overflow. I'm sure it'll rear its ugly head again in a few months just to frustrate me!
The colour difference is fairly subtle so here's a side by side comparison:
The left half is Firefox displaying the proper colours and the right half is IE playing silly buggers.

Ehm...Shaggy, this is a bit strange ; I'm now watching 1 image in IE, with two different colors....so, now the left side looks like the original image looks like in IE, and the right part looks like how the second original image looks like in IE.
This does not seem to happen with image types other than PNG, does it ? here's why: http://hsivonen.iki.fi/png-gamma/

Son of a ...
Guess it's back to GIFs for me At least until the world fully wakes up to IE7 and we can start using PNGs with an alpha channel.
And, yes, I'm aware of my stupidity, trying to illustrate the differences in colour of a PNG file with a PNG file! Here's a GIF, instead:
