Hi,
Iīm looking for a nice free ASP script to have a search engine in our local intranet - itīs all html files, no database, is this possible ? If yes, how or where can I find it ?
Thanks a lot,

Didn't IBM and Yahoo! team up to create a competitor to Google's search appliance? I seem to remember they had a program you could put on a server... but this was a while back so the details are a little fuzzy. |

Thanks, this one is kinda cool: http://www.searchmakerpro.com/
But itīs not free, and the index needs to be run each time there are updates on the site.
The ideal would be a script that located in the root of the intranet and reads the folder that I specify within the website. |

Index Server does a very decent job, despite its age. We used it yeeeeaaaarrrrsss ago, and it was super at cataloguing inside files as well as sites (eg if you drop a .doc in a folder it's watching, the .doc can be indexed too) |

Our intranet is not available online, so it will not work. It has to be a script I install locally on the server.
Thanks

I use a free site called master.com. They do not put any adds on your site other than their small logo next to the search button. It automatically indexes your site each week. You can make it look just like the rest of your site. You can see it in action at my site if you want to see how it looks.
My search.

WebWizGuide used to have a reasonably good script but it looks like they're not offering it any more; completely ASP driven, all you had to do was provide it with the directories you wanted it to search, specify which extensions you wanted to include and which files you wanted to exclude and you were up & running. I'll see if I can dig an old version out of my backups for you.

Search is your friend I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again. |

Shaggy, I do have that script, it works, but problem is that when the site is very large, the server will timeout all the time, so I canīt use it, only for small sites. Itīs called "Web Wiz Guide Site Search Engine".
But yes, that script is perfect for what I need - if I could somehow fix the timeouts it would be perfect. |

I use ASPSimpleSearch on my DVD directory site. On a large site you may still have a timeout issue. Here is the link:
