Hello,
I am trying to switch forum software from a piece of crap (amazingforums.com) to snitz or something else that I can use without a database. The only problem is I need a way to be able to import the old posts apart from reposting them all by myself. Could anyone possibly make a mod or maybe some custom way to import posts into the forum from a given rss feed? Thanks. |

Because of the very nature of a forum, you're not going to find a forum that doesn't use a database. IF you do find one that does, it will most certainly be a piece of junk.
As to importing the old information into Snitz, if you have the database and the database structure, an import script could probably be written. I highly doubt you're going to be able to get all the information you need from an RSS feed. |

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

Well I don't control what the person doing the site uses and atm he is using setupsite without any database and I have been hindered working around that forever. Snitz can use access and is the only one I found that can. This is more of a local forum so its not a big deal.

Yes it is the biggest pos ever, but I didnt pick it. But I REALLY need a replacement and one I can better integrate in the site. Problem is I really don't know how to import it. I only chose rss feed because that's the only thing I could create and its not like its a high profile forum or anything. If anyone could volunteer and write some kind of import script that woud be great. I'm thinking simple parsing of html and title. The current forum doesn't have any real user creation so that field would be fine to put it all under imported or something. |
