Just received the following query from one of my forum users and I shall quote his email.

"I went to your forums. The most recent post indicated was 16 July, in 'Your Garden Images' (a sub-forum). The heading is up to date but the last entries aren't. So I press refresh again. Now they are up to date. I close the site, then open it again. It is again not the most up to date site, but a later one than earlier. My own response of tonight in 'Your Garden Images' is missing. I refresh. It is there. I go in once more. My latest response is not there. I refresh. It is there.

Unless I refresh each page individually, I don't know if I'm seeing the most up-to-date version. Frustrating and probably expensive."

Does anyone know what is happening here?

If they're using IE tell them to try this...

Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > Settings > Should be "Every time I visit the page"

No promises, but I've had it fix this issue before.

Thanks for that. Surely this would affect All web pages regardless of whose forums they visit? Because I don't think they have the problem using other forums.

BTW. I'm a Firefox person so went back to a little-used copy of IE6 where there is no Browsing History tab in Internet Options. Is it General>Temp Internet files>Settings>Every time you start IE> for IE6 if indeed this is the fix?

Expensive, how?

Definitely a caching issue, either on his machine or at his ISP's end.

Expensive? In many places around the world dial-up is still an essential and if the best ISP option charges not on time but total download capacity it would be a financial problem.

Not quite an internet example. But did you know for instance Shaggy, that if you call a Russian telephone you get charged at your end but so does the person who picks up the call at the other? It's slightly less than if they made the call to you . . . . . It's an alternative to paying land-line charges I s'pose.
