I don't recall seeing 'My Files' along the top of my forum until this evening when I uploaded Guestbook and various other MODS (so I don't know which may have caused the new link to appear between 'Profile' and 'Home'). After logging on, I can now click on the new link and see a long, long list of files in my upload directories - all of which can be deleted off my server!

Quite frankly it is a little disconcerting. What does myfiles do? Am I needlessly concerned that it provides a visible link to deleting my recently uploaded files? Can the the visible link be hidden or at least avoided? - I feel my forum security is unnecessarily 'exposed'.

I've got green fingers, but I'm all thumbs using a keyboard!

Mikes File Attachment Addon's here..

http://www.snitzbitz.com/mods/details.asp?Version=All&mid=67

This addon uses that filename. If it's the same, the link is only visible to logged in users it goes to a dead end if not logged in, and only goes to their own files if they are. If you're the admin, then it goes to everyone's files.

Log out and it should go away.

Yours shows to non-logged in users, but goes to a dead end if clicked.

if clicked by a "guest" it comes up as

"There was a problem with your details.
Du musst eingeloggt sein, um diese Seite sehen zu können."

same as mine did.. I changed the non-english to:

You must be logged in, in order to see this section.

(myfiles.asp)

Thanks guys for the reassurance.

Bobby131313, First point, as 'Admin' it would seem this is going to be an enormously long file! Will it ever end? Can I limit the number of files shown?
Second point, can I safely remove the 'MY Files' link from the nav bar? I mean, if someone posts some image I don't approve of I can simply delete it using my ftp surely?

Thermal_Seeker, I've followed your lead regarding the pop-up msg,
and your own signature has provided the spur to do one of my own.

one thing I did was to remove the delete button for non-admin members so that should they wish the pic to be removed they have to ask admin. this was brought about by members uploading and after a week or so, deleting the pic to leave the "red cross" and therefore upsetting the threads.

"My Files" was installed as part of Proeder's mod.
It allows the individual who uploaded a file to delete only their files.
You'll have to search for the links in inc_header.asp to find "My Files" and remove it.

OK, it would seem that Mike's and Proeder's use the same file name then.

Yes, and I hate it, I wish it would only show mine. If I need to see them all... well... as you said, that's what ftp is for.

I can't really answer your other questions, it seems we have different mods. Mike's, as far as I remember, never had the delete option, which was cool with me. Hate those pizza boxes.

Now if only there was a way to find orphaned files in my uploaded folder so I could delete them. I bet there's a lot.
