I have changed the settings on the config file, db type as access and using string connection as the physical path (also checked whereami). When I open default.asp, "An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator" comes up.
BTW I'm running Access 2007, IIS on Windows Vista Business (if it has any relevance!
Grateful for help!!

Hi Thanks for this.
I had "show friendly http error messages" unchecked already(but went back to confirm and it is unchecked). However, I'm still getting the same message "An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator" .

The physical path won't work on Vista or server 2003/XP by default. You will need to get your hosts to enable it for you in IIS or else use the Server.MapPath option.
I'd suggest using "strConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("_db/forumdbkskshiah.mdb") '## MS Access 2000 using virtual path" to get around the problem.
Hope that helps :) |

Thanks.. Tried but ... One of my colleagues downloaded this and his forum is working perfect (he's running on XP Pro).
Having spent entire day pulling me hair out, now taken his advice and will work on XP.
Anyway, many thanks for your help |

If you are using a Vista build, you need to make the following change to see the error message.
1) Internet Option:
uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error message" check box
2) IIS Settings:
cscript %systemdrive%\inetpub\adminiscripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AspScriptErrorSentToBrowser true (to allow error message send to client)
Otherwise, error messages are only sent to the event logs.

Performing both of the steps I listed above should allow you to see the actual error message in your client browser.
What error message are you receiving? |

Looks like something you will need to run from the command prompt. |
