I will be starting a new forum for those who have gone to our summer camp. I want to make it so only those who have attended will be able to read or post to the forum. Is the best way to do this to password protect the file directory or to use a private forum feature.

This is new ground for me, all my forums have been wide open until now. I'm starting new with Snitz coming from ASP-DEV forum background.

Well it depends on how much security you want. If I were you I would try out the Private forums options first before trying to password protect the forums folder.

You could use the "Allowed Member List" option which allows you to select which members of the forum can access that forum. If they aren't on the allowed list, they can't enter.
Also the "Allowed member List (Hidden)" would be suitable if you didn't want other members to see the forum. Only the members on the allowed list will be able to see the forum.
