I think the normal operation of Proeder's mod is that you name the upload folder. You named yours "upload" but you could have named it something else, such as "userfiles".
Proeder's mod will create a sub-folder for each user. Your user name must be "forumstaff" because when you uploaded a file, Proeder's mod created a folder for your files called "forumstaff".
When a user uploads a file, Proder's mod will create a folder for that user (with their user-name) and put their files in it. This makes administration easier as the forum gets larger and more user's upload files.

I am having a problem similar to a couple of users on this topic. When I put the upload directory name into the text box of the attachment administration page I am getting a message as follows:
There was a problem with your details.
There is no write access for this directory. Please grant write access for anonymous users on the directory.
Please go back and try again.
I am trying to set The Upload directory to: http://hardingersystems.com/BAT-forum/MembersUploads/
I have confirmed that the directory has read/write/execute permissions but does that mean the same as "write access for anonymous users"?
Also note: I was trying the suggestion of one of the members on this topic...so...I created another directory of memberuploads just to see if that would make a difference but it did not. |

No you have to set the write access to both the anonymous user as well as the folder itself.
Make sure you have that set up for both and this should work. |

Thanks for the tip, As it turns out my site host does not allow annonymous ftp. Here is the info I have found on my web host tech support site: Does any of this mean anything to you and if so, do you have a suggestion on how I go about utilizing it?
Web.com offers Windows users other ways to allow unauthenticated users to upload files to your Website. One example is SAFileUp, an ASP DLL that allows for browser-based FTP functions. The SAFileUp DLL, when used in conjunction with a simple script, will allow you to upload files to your site by browsing your local directories. The SAFileUp DLL is already installed on the servers. For more information, see Knowledge Base article, “SA-FileUp.” Both Linux and Windows customers can also upload files using PHP and FrontPage components. |

I don't believe this has to do with anonymous FTP but you will want to check with your host to make sure that the folder has read/write permissions.
If I am wrong about the anonymous ftp someone will correct me I just haven't heard of that before being part of the image upload deal.
Mainly the deal is with permissions you can tell your host you have a script you need for people to upload photos and ask them how to get the proper permissions. I haven't done anyting with web.com before so I am not sure of their policy regarding this.

The permissions on the directory are set to read/write/execute
From the same page at Web.com here is what they say about the Annonymous FTP Anonymous FTP Anonymous FTP is a method that allows visitors to download files from your Website via FTP without having to log on or identify themselves. In an effort to combat server attacks and keep your site content safe, Web.com has disabled Anonymous FTP. This translates into less downtime due to server attacks, and it creates a more controlled environment that can be managed more efficiently. Important: In order to ensure better server stability and integrity, Web.com does not allow use of Anonymous FTP in our shared hosting environment.
My question is: Has anyone written an .asp script that utilizes the .dll file mentioned in this quote from web.com
