When someone posts a message and tries to use the Link button this is what they get: url, /url, the link code doesn't show the link, the image button:img, /img and no image. I have HTML turned off, with Forum Code on is doesn't work and with HTML on it doesn't work. How can the users insert a link or pic and it actually work?! I have the current version of the software. I've tried it in both Firefox and IE. |

Got a link 'til we have a look? Have you made any changes to your files?
|
Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

Unfortunately I have this on my Intranet so I can't get you to it to see it. I haven't changed any of the files just the images. I have no idea where to even look for this. |

could you maybe post some screenshots then to explain what you mean, it is going to be difficult to suggest a solution without understanding the problem |

There isn't anything really to show, it looks just like this, I get no error, it just doesn't work no matter what I have turned on or off. You can link anything or add pics. |

it just looks like what ?
what exactly happens when you press the button ? does it open a popup window, or just paste the tags into the post ?
if the [] are missing from around the tags, then something must have caused it, if it is not because you have edited the code then it must be something else, what did you use to upload the files to the webserver ? is it running in a nonenglish language? is it a unix/linux server?
since this problem has never come up before we can't offer a solution without seeing something, or being given more information. |

No the [] are there, when you press the button the tags show up but don't work in the post. I uploaded the files directly on the server from the download. It is running on Windows Server 2003, IIS, in English. Nothing has been edited as far as code. The popup doesn't show up when you press the buttons and even it I hard code it into the text it still doesn't work. Hope that helps. |

Sounds to me like the format mode is set to Basic. Check the setting at the top of the post/reply window. If it is set to Basic, the FAQ has details on how to use the tags for creating a link. |

Yes I have, when you type in a url the code and the url shows in the post but no action, it doesn't work. |

Either that or use the free Wink program to capture exactly what you are doing as you are doing it. I suspect its working, just not the way you think....
Also, what version of the forum are you using, and what browsers is this happening in? |

Wink is a nice find :-) Similarly for online cross-platform meetings/collaboration, vyew.com is similar to a lightweight's livemeeting (or livemeeting before it lost it's way) |

Yeah, I've been using Wink for a while now and I've been very happy with it - especially for the price. |
