I have made a lot of minor changes in the code. Unfortunately I do not have them logged. Thus I would have to find those changes and compare the current files with the upgraded version -- something that would be very time-consuming.
Thus my question is whether upgrading from 3.4.04 to the current will be of any real benefit.
What is different about the current version that would warrant the time I would have to take to locate and preserve alterations I have made
Yes, you should always keep your forums up to date as each new release contains vital bug fixes and security patches. There are 3 ways of upgrading:
- Download the zip file containing all the files for v3.4.06 and overwrite your current files.
- Use the zip that contain only the files updated for v3.4.05 followed by the one that contains only the files updated for v3.4.06.
- Use the Bug Report and Announcements forums to manually add the changes between v3.4.04 and 3.4.06.
I wouldn't recommend using the last method, though, as you may easily miss a crucial patch and not all changes are documented here on the forums. I'd personally recommend the second option and you'd just have to hope you can remember all the changes you made to the updated files off the top of your head.
