Okay, we all know it's easy to create a database folder in Frontpage 2000 but how do I do it in FP98? There is no obvious 'create database' tool but is there a workaround without me having to update to FP2000?

Oh, as you can probably guess i'm having the common read/write problems with my database (you can see it 'running' at www.bandlink.net/forum/)
Cheers!

Mark...you need to set your permission on the server to be able to read & write.

Mark, an upgrade to FP2000 is a 'Good Thing'!
I think FP98 will create a /fpdb folder if you drag an .mdb file from windows explorer and drop it on the top of your page tree view in FP98.
If your db is already in the web, you need to allow read/write permissions to the .mdb for the web server account. If it's a remote ISP you either will have a control panel so you can change file permissions yourself, or you'll have to have the ISP change the permissions for you.

yes... NEVER create the /FPDB/ folder manualy... let Frontpage do it for you... and you do this by dragging a .mdb file into any folder (other than the fpdb folder and it will prompt you after it's uploaded to let FP move the .mdb to that folder. It is realy that easy... don't try to make it more dificult.

Okay, tried that. It just dumped the .mdb file into the root folder... no creation of FPDB folders or anything.
I will be upgrading to FP2000 in a couple of days but I am suprised that I cannot get it to work in FP98.

Remember, don't edit the asp using the Frontpage editor, there are some pages that get changed by the 'FrontPage Magic' and quit working.
