Hi
I have implemented the CAPTCHA mod, and have discovered that if the Link Spam Captcha is set no one can create a new topic. The following error message is received when the new topic is posted.
There has been a problem!
You did not enter the Anti SPAM confirmation code !
There is alo no place to enter CAPTCHA code before post.
Is this a bug?
I am running latest Release - 3.4.06
Regards Antony

Which CAPTCHA Mod? there are a couple floating around...
Also, I seem to remember this coming up before. Have you tried searching? |

Hi
The MOD used is : captcha_-_anti_spam-34-1
I will check changes in post_info.asp as confirm edits
The CAPTCHA MOD is the only MOD loaded at this stage, and it appears to stop the SPAM BOT registrations, without the need for any other MODs
Do you recommend loading the gatekeeper MOD as well?
Regards Antony

Hi
The post_info.asp edit is correct. The only difference between your edited example and my file is the version. I have implemented the edit change to V3.4.06

No. But I would have used the Gatekeeper one instead of the Captcha one for accessability purposes.
Can you please explain what you mean by the statement above.
Is it the fact that we can control the access questions for the Gatekeeper MOD, but are stuck with the standard CAPTCHA picture grams for the CAPTCHA MOD?

No - that would be a mistake. Political Correctness can be taken too far.
I think they both have merit and a “best fit” depending on the audience you are address.
For instance, my forum is an ADSL technical forum (www.speedtouch.net.nz) and although not impossible, it is highly unlikely that a blind person would participate. I would expect that an able sighted helper / guardian / relative would assist.

I have to say, that's an absolutely disgusting attitude to have towards people with disabilities. Are wheelchair accessible toilets also a case of political correctness being taken too far? How about subtitles or closed captioning systems for people that are hard of hearing?

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

I will have to agree that political correctness can be taken to far. I mean there are many things that are great and needs to be there for sure but in america kids can no longer say the pledge of alligence because it mentions god. No offense to those that don't believe in god but instead of banning this for everyone those who do not want to express that should just not join in. But because of political correctness everyone now has to abide by the feelings of a few.
I think there are areas that it is greatly needed and a great thing but political correctness just like anything can be taken to far in some instances. IMHO
But I am 100% with you Shaggy on anybudy with disabilities they should never be excluded from something because of something they have no control over. There needs to be put in place things to help them join in and participate with anything. |

Let's not lose sight of the original question and reply?
Shaggy - Do you think Podge should remove the captcha mod (which has complete stopped the SPAM BOT issue) from SnitzBitz, because Blind people cannot see the images?
I would also suggest that a blind person would not be able to read the gatekeeper MOD question without assistance. So if the intent is to really make the site user friendly to the blind, an audible feature would need to be added to the program.
And as a point of view, I neither harbour disgusting or negative attitudes towards people with disabilities. I am just practical. The CAPTCHA MOD is a great solution to the increasing SPAM BOT problem.
