In yet another attempt to stop spammers signing up I set the option of "Restrict Registration" to "on". also set to on are Require unique email, email validation and require log on. Yesterday all new registrations appeared as "Members Pending" and I was able to pick out the spammers. Great I thought, this will do. But it now seems to have stopped working. Can anyone think of a reason why it should?
Trevor: I also am new to this and our site isn't even officially open and yet i encountered a possible spammer registered on our site today. Very frustrating! Im very interested in learning how you deal with this. I really didn't want to have to hold up registrations but I see I may have to. I will be watching the replies you get. Thanks

And "restrict registration" is definitely still set to on in your admin options?

I'm having the same issues all of a sudden of having a rash of spammers get in. I haven't changed my mail server of any of that info in ages. It's almost as if some settings got corrupted and are not recoverable.
