I have been trying to change the colors on the forum software so that I can make it match my website better, but some of them wont let me. I cant change link colors, which isnt that big of a deal, but I also cant change the First Cell color, which is really a pain in the butt. I need to make it dimgray or something similar, and every time I change it, it reverts back to the original color, which is whitesmoke. Is there something I am doing wrong here?

possibly you are changing it in the wrong place, are you doing it in the sub GetFirst() function ?

links can be a bit of a nightmare as it depends where you are changing the style as to how they pick it up, which links are not behaving as you would expect them to ?

Does it happen with that color only?

I have no mods installed at all, completely fresh install.

Im trying to change it in the admin options screen. I dont really mind the links not changing, but not being able to get the first cell field to change color is really hindering things. The background of my page is a dark gray, so Im trying to change the cells and headers and etc. over to match. Everything else went smoothly except for First Cell. (Well that and none of the links can change, but I dont really care to that extent on those)

It happens on any color I try to change it to. No matter what, it always reverts back to whitesmoke.

sounds like either a problem in your db or with the servers application settings, since it should be possible to do what you are trying to do, there are no hard coded colours in the forum code so it should not revert back/

If it is possible, check that the colours are changing in the config_new table in the database, and try doing a check_installation after changing the colours in the admin panel, this should force the application variables to update

Well I dunno what the problem is. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. No rhyme or reason to it. Last night I changed things for a good hour. Then all of a sudden I was back in the same predicament I was in, so go figure.

it really doesn't figure..unless you're somehow rerunning the setup routines to overwrite your db values or something.

Nothing to do with client cacheing is it? Just a thought. Try dropping all your temp internet files etc

Sounds like your host may have issues - what do they say? have they had problems and keep restoring from backups?

Well, I guess I should say Im very much a newbie at this stuff. I had a friend set up all the db stuff, as I dont really know much about that at all.

As far as client caching, Ive tried using both IE and Firefox, with IE never having opened the site before, and get the same problem. I will try emptying my cache however.

I havent talked to my host yet. I dont think theyve restored from a backup though, as Ive been working on other pages of the site and they have remained true.
