I am having a problem with my forum on a subdomain. It's somewhat different than the others ive read on this forum.
My forum is placed in a directory like this:
http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/

From there created a subdomain that references the above URL and looks like: http://forum.myhost.com

When i go to http://forum.myhost.com and i login i get:
You logged on successfully!
And my browser pointing to http://forum.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/default.asp
after a few seconds i get redirected to the above page which doesnt exists. So i get a page not found error.
Instead i should get redirected to http://forum.myhost.com/default.asp
which is equal to http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/default.asp

My HOME URL is set to http://forum.myhost.com/
and my FORUM URL is set to http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/

Can anyone help me solve this issue.

Thx

Nymus

You need to check that you have specified the right path with your subdomain. This can be done with your host. I had the same problem and had to make the right path to get to the right page.

You should set your forum URL to http://forum.myhost.com/
Your home URL should be the URL for your site, not your forum. If it's the same, then just use identical values.

Oh sorry ruirib I think I misunderstood his question. I thought that the path variable he choose for his sub domain was off cause I just went thought this 3 days ago. Sorry if that was bad information.

Setting my FORUM URL to http://forum.myhost.com
and my HOME URL to http://www.myhost.com
doesn't work neither.

Any other tips?

I would like to keep my http://forum.myhost.com address in my browser.
So that the underlying directory http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/ is not visible for the user

JJenson no problem.
My http://forum.myhost.com URL references http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/

but after logging in the forum.myhost.com stays, but he adds /subdomain/forum/ at the end which ofcourse doesn't exist and so gives me page not found error.
He should just leave the /subdomain/forum/ away and it should work.

I suggest that you rerun setup.asp to make sure that the new forum URL gets loaded correctly.

Hmmm... likely that won't fix it. Try adding the Referer mod, to see if it helps. If it doesn't immediately I can add a "hack" to the mod that will fix it.

I will have a look at it in a few minutes and keep u posted.
I hope it works.

All it has to do is redirect me back to
http://forum.myhost.com/default.asp after logging in and all should be fine. (ofcourse is should use http://forum.myhost.com as base URL for all its transactions)

Just installed the mod you referred to.
Can you tell me what the correct settings for my
FORUM URL and HOME URL are?

FORUM URL: http://www.myhost.com/subdomain/forum/
HOME URL: http://forum.myhost.com/

Is this correct?

I installed the reference mod and changed both to http://forum.myhost.com

yet after loggin in on http://forum.myhost.com
i still get redirected to http://forum.myhost.com/subdomein/forum/default.asp
which gives page not found error.

Any other possible solutions?

this is to do with the way your url is being redirected and not the paths setup in the forum

Have you added the mod? Cause there is code in the mod that could avoid that, I think, if changed.

I did added the mod.
Haven't experienced any changes though.
As it is a forum my provider supports, I asked them to have a look at it. Will see, if they can 'fix' it.

Any other help is still welcome.
