I have posted about this before. The lost password function does not work and it is not due to my server's/hosts doing. I have tried everything..everything! There is an article coming out about the website tomorrow..in the newspaper and I feel screwed. All I could do was send a message to all of the members stating that I could not fix the snitz feature to allow for password retrieval.

Some people are not able to register at all...and others are. Strange. One is from yahoo and one from aol. Some register but then forget their passwords but then can't get them. Can they login again with a different password from the same email address?

Also...what is the pending members about? How do I disable that and should I? I did find 6 pending members (2 were ICQ's with very graphic naked pictures, so gee, I decided to delete them). I have a food website.

Can anyone at all help me....and please, talk to me like I am a six year old. MY husband is computer savy and has come to this site to research and he doesn't know what people are talking about half the time. Can it be more "user friendly" for us non-programmer types?

Thanks!

The password function does not work because your email functions do not work and you do need to interact with your host to determine what to use for email server and whether that email server requires authentication. Until you get this info, the password function will never work, as it requires the forum email to work.

Pending members will show if you have email validation on. The members will remain in the list until they reply to the email they receive in their accounts. You may also have Require Registration on (both settings are defined in Admin Options -> Email Server Configuration) and if you have it, you need to approve the members before the email is sent to them.

Well yahoo and aol maybe tagging your emails as spam, so people dont get them unless they check their trash folders or whatever they call them.

People could register again with the same email address if you disable the "Require Unique E-mail" option in Email Server Configuration found in the Admin Options.

Pending members is where people stay until they receive the validation email that would have been sent out to them (providing they gave a valid email address) when they registered. You can validate them manually as you have found out. I wouldn’t disable it.

Test that your forum can send emails by clicking on your own profile and sending yourself an email. If that works then I believe you are set up correctly. Then you can also test the lost password functionality by logging out and going through the process yourself.

I did contact my host and got the address to use for email server and I corrected that after my initial problems and previous post.

Does your webhost have any public documentation on sending email using asp through their mail servers?

I have heard back from Yahoo DSL, which is my server. Okay...I don't want anyone to pass out or anything, but I thought snitz was my webhost. When I talked to Yahoo DSL about the email issues, they referred me to their webhosting dept. who told me I didn't have a web account with them.

I do have a home page...sight right now. From there I go to the forums (powered by snitz.com). Are they my webhost?

I feel like the dumbest person in the world right now.

Please..just look at the site. http://www.sacramentofoodgroup.org

thanks...Melody

Didn't you see the directions on how to click on the place setting to get to the forums? If there is a better way to do it, I would. I'd like to just have a an arrow that says...click right here to go to forums!
