I have uploaded the forum to my website and it is working very well. trouble is i am iunable to make some configuration changes through the admin. I cannot enter the name of my mail server. It continues to default to the your.mailserver.com and I the radio button stays on off for email. simlarly i cannot get it to show the time generated foir the page and one or two other things.

I uploaded as per the instructions and am wondering what i need to do

That does happen sometimes. It's usually a server thing and it's hard to overcome. Usually what I recommended is that you use a small dbs script to set the value for the variables you need and then run setup.asp.

Thank you. The intersting thing is that my web host recommends Snitz forums and offers them on his servers. Also, as a relative beginner to ASP (my only web scrpting experience is in Coldfusion)I am not sure how this would work. Will it make any difference that I set up the database (Access)with a DNS connection. Also would it be better to use a MySQL database?

If you tell me precisely the settings you have been unable to change, I can write a dbs script for you to use.

If you plan to use Access, I'd recommend using an OLEBD connections, so no DSN, please. I don't think that will help with the current problem, but I can't be definitive on that, cause it's kinda difficult to pinpoint the exact cause for that error. MySQL is preferred to Access, so if you can use it, I think you should. Can't guarantee it will allow you to overcome this issue, either.

LQQKs like you are the master here :)

Hey man... I am having the same trouble but in a different catagory. I helped a friend do a forum and it worked great. I was able to set the age to 18 instead of 13 and I was able to set the highest level of subscriptions up so that one can subsrcibe to topics. Now I loaded and set up mine. Now that I try to change the age from 13 to 18 for registration and then submit, it does not work. Then when I set up highest level of subscribtion I am not able to set up my forum topics to allow subscription H*LL I am not even able to see send topic to a friend show up on mine. Not drinking yet but close... Please advise...

Thanks,

MrJustice

If you want to email me your forum URL and admin access data, I promise to have a look, though later on. I'm leaving for a few hours to run my first half-marathon in six years , so I can only try to have a look at that when I return.
