Hi, when I try to open my Access database with Access it says it is an unrecognised format even though it is a mdb file!

Not sure whats wrong here :)

Hey, it says un recognised database format when I try the repair. MDB viewer can view the database though but it is only a viewer so cannot edit anything!

Cheers again :)

Sorry we are not allowed to download mdb files. This is what we get when we try:

----------------------
<html>
<head>
<title>This type of page is not served.</title>
<style>
body {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;font-size: .7em;color:black;}
p {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;color:black;margin-top: -5px}
b {font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:bold;color:black;margin-top: -5px}
H1 { font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;font-size:18pt;color:red }
H2 { font-family:"Verdana";font-weight:normal;font-size:14pt;color:maroon }
pre {font-family:"Lucida Console";font-size: .9em}
.marker {font-weight: bold; color: black;text-decoration: none;}
.version {color: gray;}
.error {margin-bottom: 10px;}
.expandable { text-decoration:underline; font-weight:bold; color:navy; cursor:hand; }
</style>
</head>

<body bgcolor="white">

<span><H1>Server Error in '/' Application.<hr width=100% size=1 color=silver></H1>

<h2> <i>This type of page is not served.</i> </h2></span>

<font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, SunSans-Regular, sans-serif ">

<b> Description: </b>The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.mdb' may be incorrect. Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
<br><br>

<b> Requested URL: </b>/db/snitz_forums_2000.mdb<br><br>

</body>
</html>

----------------------

Maybe we could if you renamed the file with a txt extension.

ups, do not put the db where everyone can download it. HuwR asked you to email it to him, not publish the db!

I can open your mdb without any problems, I'm using access 2002. Roger is right dont go sharing your db with everyone but this is empty so its all right really.

Can you open the original mdb file supplied with snitz?

Hey cheers for the help. Made database unavaliable from public! I can open the original database file that came with the Snitz Zip folder fine but not the one on my server!

Is there anyway I can transfer the contents from my corrupt file to a fresh one without much fuss?

Once again thanks for the help,

Toby

You could try deleting the tables in a clean snitz DB and then try the File -> Get External Data -> Import command to import the data from your supposedly corrupt tables. Not sure it will work though.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried doing a Compact and Repair on you're corrupt database? I've seen that fix an awful lot of problems...
