When I add a new categorie and create a new forum in there, I receive the following error message after logout or when I connect to the site: www.deutscherclubseoul.com/forum/default.asp :

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a500e'
Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'
/Forum/inc_func_secure.asp, line 103

When I delete the new forum and categorie again, the error message dissapears.

I found this error message in the support sites, but the way described to solve the problem didn't help.

Thanks for any help.

Rolf

I do have an additional problem: When creating a new member, it is not possible to log in, even the member is created in the database.

The following error shows up:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'
Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'
/Forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 900

I found a posting which points to this error, but the solution-link goes to the same, which I tried before and it didn't help.

For your information: I didn't delete the default forum, but I renamed it.

I tried to follow those instructions before, but most propably I'm to stupid.

The entry looks as follows:
Column Type Length Prec. Scale Nullable Default Rule Id. Id. start Id. seed Row GUID
F_PRIVATEFORUMS int 4 10 0 True False False

What do I need to change ?

By the way: Very prompt replies - Thank you very much.

Set the column value to 0, for all the existing records, in datasheet view, and set the Default value to 0 as well, in design view.

Thanks, the display of the site is now correct. works like a charm !

However: Users still cannot log in. The following error message is displayed:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'
Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'
/Forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 900

I tried to delete the users but then I receive the following message:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'
Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'
/Forum/pop_delete.asp, line 863

Any further clou ?

PS: I did try: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=62697&SearchTerms=new,member,log,in

I don't think I ever saw that befor, other than in the link you posted. If you want to email me the database, I can try and have a look...

Aydogan from the first reply said he had the same initial problem, which also could be solved with your posted link. I contacted him by e-mail with my user-log-in-problem and he confirmed, that he has the same situation. He replied with a work-arround as follows:
1- Get new registration and obtain error
2- Login as Admin
3- Edit members
4- You will see the title of the new registrant as "Error"
5- Edit the member and re-enter the title
6- logoff and logon with the new member.

I did try this work-arround, but in my case there is no title "Error". But I can mark the field (title) as if there would be a space and when I "delete" this space, everything works.

So I checked what happend to the database and found, there is no entry in M_Level. After "deleting" the space, M_Level carries the value "1".

Does this information help for a solution ?

I cannot understand why that is happening. Did you create the forum by running setup.asp? Also, check what is the default value for the M_LEVEL column in Access. If there is none, set it to 1 and then try to add a new user.

Perfect, setting the default value to (1) fixed the problem.

Thanks again for your outstanding support.....
