Recently, I have two people who are both using AOL that cannot get past the policy page. I DO have the referer mod installed.
Anyone else run into this? I am not sure how AOL handles the HTTP_REFERER. Assuming that AOL is the problem, any suggested workarounds? |

One person ended up using Explorer instead of AOL and could register. The other person is on a PC using AOL and Norton Security and has not been able to register.
Think it's an AOL problem or do I not have the referer mod installed properly? |

Looks like an AOL problem, I'd say, but can't really be sure. The mod installation is just a few lines added to inc_header.asp. Have you compared yours with the mod recommendations? |

Yes, pretty simple mod to install and my file looks correct when compared to Davio's modded file. |

Must be. I've had a third AOL user report trouble registering. Nobody else has experienced this? I am not sure how to troubleshoot or come to a solution. |

Just for you, I took a look, and there actually is a new (just today) member on my forum with an AOL addy. I have 4 other AOL'ers pending between 7-30 days old.
So no, it seems unlikely it's an AOL problem. I too have the referrer mod installed.

Thanks, I know there are some members at my site who are AOL users. Perhaps this is a newer issue? It is tough to really know for sure.
I checked my inc_header.asp... and all looks fine to me. Anyone want to help me double check? Do I need to check any other files?
Thanks, Andy |

Your file shows you have the referrer mod installed correctly.
I think the AOL thing is a red herring. Send them somewhere to test their cookies. Probably a firewall issue. |

Tony, thanks for checking and for the link. I will check it out and share any findings here. |

Just as a follow up, I never received enough feedback from users to come to a conclusion. I asked one person to test their cookies. Before doing so, she tried registering (after many failed attempts) and it worked. The other two never contacted me to let me know if they tried to register again but they never showed up in the member list. |
