I have a user who was going along fine and then was unable to login. She went through the "forgot password" process twice and then asked for help. I tried to change her password as the admin and still she could not login. I deleted her and now she cannot register because her email address shows up as a duplicate. How do I find her email address to delete it and why is this deletion process not working fully? Is there a time delay in this process?
As far as I know, the e-mail address is retained to help thwart those who were punitively deleted from re-registering... but I could be mistaken on that.
It sounds like there may be a bigger issue.
When she went through the "forgot password" did she get the e-mail? Were there any errors that came up along the way? When you changed the password, did you run into any errors? Did you try re-setting the password and logging in yourself to see if it was a problem with her computer?
Excellent information and timely. I reset the duplicate email option, submitted her again and she's in. Thanks again for all your collective help. I'll see if I can figure out how the problem occured in the first place.
Starting with the login issue, that is normally related to cookie creation problems on the user's side. Usually deleting the cookies, closing browser windows and trying again will fix it.
When you delete a user who has posts, his / her email address is kept. That would account for the repeated email issue even after the user's deletion.
