When a new user signs up to my forum it sends me an e-mail telling me about it as it should, however when I activate or approve the account the new user never finds about it until I tell them personally. What am I missing here?

You need to have email validation turned on in the Email Server Configuration section of the Admin page.

If you activate them, they will not be emailed. If you approve them, they should automatcally be emailed.

By default, Snitz should not be emailing you if a new user signs up. You must have installed a MOD. Perhaps you installed it incorrectly?
