I was wondering if adding mods will make a Snitz Forum slower (when using MySQL database)?

My questions run like this:
  • Is there any one particular mod that will make a forum run noticiably slower? Which one(s)?
  • How many mods can be added before performance degradation is noticed?
  • How many mods do you have installed and still feel happy w/ performance?

All help and tips are appreciated. . .

I have installed 80 mods and till now I have not a sensible slowing.
You can see the list here:

Problems can come with PM pager or active users refreshing too fast.

Another issue is the missing closure of a db query in a mod.

I'll tell you this. Your forum is much more appealing then the home link on your forum.

I simply love the forum. How'd did you get the dropshadows on your usernames? CSS I think.

Note - I may take a few days to recieve your email. Hotmail filters all new emails as junk. Would be best to post all questions, concerns in a forum topic to catch my immediate attention. This way others can assist and also correct any similar mistakes.

There's no hard and fast rule, some MOD's are well written and coded using good standards and techniques, others, are quite simply terrible and if they don't cause issues initially, they probably will eventually, things like objects and connections not destroyed etc or never tested with different database types etc etc. Many MOD's are not maintained either so may run into issues when things like new versions of the database are released, MySQL is a good example of that becuase of the considerable changes even between 4.0 versions and 4.1 versions of the database engine some MOD's no longer work out of the box without tweaking from what I've seen/heard.

THis is an Image forum 3D multilanguage, with mods taken from Portal version.
You can see it here:

The shadow is a CSS issue, implemented in the TRanslator version and V2 version of Image forum/portal.

Yes, I will have to work on my home page.... it's an old version, and when I will have time... thank you.
