When upgrading...how do I do it so that it won't wipe out my current established settings for database, look/feel, etc.

Those settings will not be reset or overwritten when upgrading.

I have updated to sr4, but it isn't working with my database for some reason, I modified the config file, and pointed it to my current database. I am getting the following error:
/forums/inc_functions.asp, line 1268

if I replace the database with the one that comes in the zip it works fine.

I'm was running v3.1 final....the one I'm testing now is v3.1 sr4
