I used some Snitz components and features and built a blog application where not only I can keep a blog, but' anybody can register and keep a blog, as well as a personal page.
Here's some links to illustrate:
http://blog.illhill.com (mainpage) http://www.illhill.com/illhilldotcom (my personal page, where I kept a blog during the development)
Also the personal pages can be customized by changing the header background, the page title and the user info column background on the right side, so keep in mind that if you don't like my fire gradient or the dark orange right side, that these can be changed to a couple of alternatives.
Constructive feedback welcome :)
Greets & thanks, Dominic

Thank you all. Illhill as a hiphop site is in a very hard struglle amongst too many competitors, so I'm always looking for ways to set my site aside from the rest of the pack. Therefor I'm not really looking forward to releasing this as a package YET. (Eventually of course I will release it just want to make sure I'm way ahead of my competitors and believe me amongst hip-hop sites people seriously don't want you to have any form of success) However, I know all of you are way more capable with asp than I am and I still got it to work. Also keep in mind that the hardest things I bumbed into are well documented in this forum, along with its solutions, so anybody who wants to build a blog like this shouldn't have too many problems and should be able to do it in waaaaaaaaaaaay less time than it cost me.
Of course I'm always willing to help anybody out on any specific things, just email me or reply to this topic with your question and I will look up the code. Also keep in mind that I applied and changed a lot of code so it will not be able to just add some lines here or there to a forum, this basically has to be standalone due to all the non-snitz changes and additions made to it. For those who want a blog but not necessarily one where others can register and post I can advice this one: http://www.hostforest.co.uk it's a free blog plus database which you can use quite easily and it even looks better than mine in my humble opinion. It allows people to register but only to comment, not to have their own blogs. Or, if you want a blog for yourself, you can of course register at http://blog.illhill.com and have a nice easy link: www.illhill.com/yourname
Greets & thanks, Dominic

Most blogs have html and many hyperlinks. Did you solve this or is your blog using forum code? |

This blog uses user friendly forumcode.
Html is sweet for those who know it, unfortunatly this can't be said for 97% of mankind, so forumcode is a better option in my opinion though.

I won't really comment on HTML being better or worse, but I will say that forumcode is much more secure. |

It is actually possible to use an HTML editor and post to db in forumcode without bypassing snitz built-in security checks.
eg: http://www.saint-pauls.ca/index.asp?main=/DiscussionForums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=36 use test ID/PW snitz0/snitz0 (Forumcode), snitz1/snitz1 (RTE basic), snitz2/snitz2 (RTE Advanced). HTML-Forumcode conversions not all complete yet, but notice the post form ----> HTML off!
ILLHILL... super job, look great!!
cheers, Nat |
Sadly, most Family Court Judges wrongfully reward opportunistic gold diggers that use our children unjustly as "instruments" of power.

I totally agree with this and personally prefer html, but for this situation forum code was the better option for me. I just want to prevent people from ruining their pages as some have done brilliantly with their myspace pages :)
Thanks for the compliments and feedback people!
It's good to hear people like something especially after the blood sweat and tears I been through!
Greets & thanks, Dominic
